Due to limited snow, the first Black Diamond Wasatch Citizens Series event has been changed to a classic sprint. The course is a little less than 1 km, starting in the stadium and ending at the Soldier Hollow lodge. It's mostly up, but has a short down just before the last climb to the finish.
Registration is from 8:30 to 9:30 in the lodge. Beginning at 10:00 we'll have mass start races for kids under 12, just as we usually do. After they're done, we'll do an interval start trial for everyone else with 10-15 second splits. Start order will be our usual age group sequence. The trials should be done soon after 11:00.
It will take us a bit of time to prepare for the finals, so we'll have lunch and the prize drawing between trials and finals. Hopefully we can start the latter around noon.
Lunch will be served in the lodge, complements of WHF Wealth Management and Kevin Murphy, and we'll have the usual fantastic prize drawing, thanks to our generous sponsors. In particular, Wild Rose is our local race sponsor for this event.
Everyone 12 and over will go into a final heat of 5, with grouping determined by order of finish in the trials. Specifically, the top 5 in the trials in a particular age group will ski together in a final heat to determine places 1-5 in that class. The next 5 will ski in the next heat to determine places 6-10. Etc. (Note that the final heats may end up with 4-7 racers, depending on how many lanes SoHo is able to set and how many are in the age group.)
We hope to see you there!
