I will still be there tomorrow (Wed, Jan 4th) at 4:30. We can at least work on double pole and maybe some V1. If you have the opportunity to ski in a more optimal location, do it. Millcreek is the only... read more

Generously, the three international FIS Technical Delegates (TDs) quoted below, wrote back to Dave Hanscom and Chris Magerl upon their requests to help TUNA skiers become better informed skiers at... read more

This article and video have done their job of starting Utah skiers conversing on what are the standards of classic racing. Wasatch skiers are thinking and evaluating their techniques while we have received input from several international FIS technical delegates. We will be working on the next iteration of advice and video, hopefully before the next Wasatch classic race. Keep the conversations going! Backcountry 101 is a completely new course developed and offered by the Friends of the Utah Avalanche Center for the 2010 - 2011 winter. We created this new course to answer this basic question: What do I need to know to ski / ride avalanche smart in the Utah backcountry? More avalanche courses are offered today than ever before. But our friends, loved ones, neighbors, and riding partners are still getting hurt. At the Friends of the Utah Avalanche Center, we think Backcountry 101 is... read more
