There's now about a foot of snow where the Trial Lake road turns off the Mirror Lake Highway, and almost 18" along the mostly flat stretch up by Crystal Lake and Lake Washington. Snowmobiles had packed it on Sunday, so it was easy to set a nice classical track. The "Road Closed" sign was up at Soapstone, but the gate was open, so I just kept driving. The highway was plowed and almost totally dry. I'm sure they'd salted it. I stopped at the Forest Service office on my way home, and they said it would be kept open until after some hunt that's still going on. Hopefully that'll last a couple more weeks.
