Tracks and Trails

In order to meet the needs of an rapidly expanding group of competitive and recreational Nordic skiers in the Ogden area, Ogden Nordic has developed a series of community based, formal trail systems. The first is in North Ogden and the second is found at the North Fork recreation area. In addition to these trails, groomed skiing is also available at Snow Basin, Mt. Ogden Golf course, and Anderson Cove Recreation area - all within a 20 minute drive for the majority of Ogden Nordic members. A few of the trails are listed below.

Anderson Cove Area
One possible choice for skiing is the Anderson Cove area by Pineview Resevoir.

Green Pond
Access to the trail is from the upper-parking lot at Snowbasin Ski Resort. The trail is relatively flat with elevation changes from 6,600 to 6,500 feet. The trail is moderate during the 3 mile length with medium degree of difficulty.

Liberty-Avon Road
Take Highway 162 through Liberty to the end. With elevation beginning at 5,400 feet and ending at 6,420, the length of the trail is 13 miles. Use of this area is moderate and difficulty is rated as moderate. Watch out - snowmobilers use the area with skiers.

Maples Campground
Access here is from the lower parking lot at Snow Basin Ski area. With elevation from 6,360 to 6,700 feet, the length is 3 miles and has moderate use. Difficulty is considered moderate. There are no Snowmobiles permitted in this area.

Mt.Ogden Golf Course
Skiing right in Ogden at the Mt.Ogden Golf Course. The Golf Course is located at 1787 Constitution Way in Ogden. Click Here to view a map to the course.

Monte Cristo Area
With elevation from 7,200 to 9,000 feet, the length of your trek is optional. The trail is easy to moderate, but there is heavy snowmobile use inthe area. From Huntsville, take Highway 39 to the snowmobile parking area.

North Fork Park
Parking is available at both the South and North gates. Elevations range from 5,400 to 5,900 feet. Grooming is done in during afternoons or evenings of Tues., Thurs., Fri., Sat. and Sun. New to the grooming fleet this year is a snowcat provided by a RAMP grant. Classic and skate track are available on all the main roads of the park. Please donate $3.00 each day you ski. Seasons passes are available for a $50.00 donation.

Snowbasin Ski Resort
Snowbasin grooms and maintains over 19.2 km of Nordic trails. Suitable for both skating and classic style Nordic skiing, one can wind through beautiful glades and meadows under towering mountain peaks. There is no charge for Snowbasin's Nordic trails. The trails are for outdoor enthusiasts of all abilities looking for an alternative way to experience our mountain. For starter trails, choose between the Meadows or the Maples. For longer and more aggressive tours, head towards the Green Pond or Art Nord trails. For more information, visit

South Fork Campgrounds
You can begin skiing in Forest Service campgrounds about 6-10 miles east of Huntsville on Highway 39. The 2.5 mile hike is easy, elevation rising only from 5,200 to 5,250 feet and use is light here. Please respect private property in the area.
