There are 3 XC ski areas at Alta: on either side of the Transfer Tow,
the Summer Road, and a 3K loop at the top of the Sunnyside lift. The
areas are groomed for skate and classic. There is a Nordic Shop (742-9722) at Alta at the bottom of the Transfer Tow. They rent equipment, conduct lessons, and sell waxes and apparel. This is the only place where you can pick up a track pass, which costs $9. You can't get this pass at the top of the Transer Tow. The XC pass also allows you to take the Sunnyside or Albion lifts to the groomed 3K loop at the top of the Summer Road. Or you can just ski the Summer Road, which gets groomed also.
