Beaver Creek Trail is a 10K beginner trail that's snowmobile groomed
by the Forest Service on a weekly basis, usually on Friday nights.
It's suitable for touring, but it can be a great classical workout if
you get there early on a Saturday morning right after it's groomed but
before the crowds arrive. The classical track gets trashed pretty
quickly by snowshoers and dogs. It's really too narrow for skating.
The trail is on the south side of the road, so it's mostly shaded, and
the snow lasts pretty well when the weather gets warm.
Directions
Drive northeast on SR 150 out of Kamas for about 6 miles to the start of
the trail, which parallels the highway on the right side. The trailhead
parking lot is on the left side, just before the Forest Service booth
where you can purchase a parking pass for the area. There are several
other pullouts along the right side of the highway where you can leave
your car. You can also park at the far end of the trail in the North
Fork parking lot.
